OUR MISSION
Maggie’s Angels is a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading the legacy of Margaret (Maggie) Bye’s life of courage, faith and determination. Our mission is twofold: to give back to our community and to help other children, and their families, living with serious medical conditions.
We strive to make a positive impact in all our pursuits.
MAGGIE'S STORY
Our daughter, Margaret (Maggie) Bye, was an amazing young woman who lived her life with unparalleled courage, constant grace, and incredible determination. She was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was only 15, but as she said to Make-A-Wish organizers in 2005, “I don’t see my cancer as a road block, but as a stepping stone to bigger and better things to come!!”
Maggie was granted her wish to meet fashion designer, Marc Jacobs, in 2006. This had a powerful and life changing impact on Maggie. Afterwards, she made it her goal to “give back” to Make-A-Wish the cost of her wish. She reached her goal before she passed away in December of 2008.
Since then, family and friends have come together and founded MAGGIE’S ANGELS, INC 501©3, to keep her rich legacy alive. Our mission is two-fold: to “give back” to our community and to help other seriously ill children. To date, we
have sponsored 63 wishes across the United States, with 14 of those being local to the Pacific NW. In addition, we have donated over $50,000 to the Inpatient Oncology Unit at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, where Maggie was a patient for 5 years, and donated to pediatric brain tumor research at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon. And we’ve only just begun….
